Bramble Bears Aims and Objectives

At Bramble Bears we believe that children learn best through play. We use these play experiences to extend and develop children’s learning by providing opportunities and activities that the children will be interested in.

We offer lots of self-selecting, age/stage appropriate activities.

The activities and interests are developed at regular staff meetings in accordance with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is government legislation that all OFSTED registered childminders, preschools, nurseries and reception classes are required to follow.

Our environment enables children to actively learn by:

Encouraging independence,

Enabling children to learn at their own pace,

Allowing children to follow their own interests,

Enables development of each child’s social skills,

Provides each child with the motivation to learn,

Enables children to take risks and make mistakes in a safe and secure environment,

Provides each child with opportunities to practice newly acquired skills learnt from peers and own initiatives,

Gives children a secure environment to work through emotions,

Enables each child to learn about the world around them (Local community and wider environment).

Allowing each child to learn through processes and not be concerned about the end product.

.

9.00 Doors open and we welcome children into the session, children find their names and self-register.

9.00-11.15 Free Play. During this time we carry out observations and focus activities. The snack bar is opened at 10.30 so the children can choose when they come and have snack. We provide a carbohydrate snack including cereals, bread, crackers and spreads and ask that you can send your child with a fruit snack. We offer milk and water to drink. The door to the garden is opened once all the children have arrived to allow free flow between the indoor and outdoor environments. Children are encouraged to get themselves ready to go outside e.g. change boots and coats. We will go outside every session regardless of weather conditions should the children wish to.

11.15-12.00 The children are encouraged to help tidy away all activities and gather together for a songs, rhymes, stories and show and tell.

11.55 Before the doors open for parents and carers to collect and drop of children, the children who are staying for lunch are encouraged to wash their hands and sit at the table ready for their lunch. Any children arriving for the afternoon session are sat straight at the table. Children going home sit with some staff and await collection. We promote healthy eating.

12.00 Door open for parents to come and collect their children.

12.00-12.15 We like the children to stay at the table for at least 15 minutes, and conversations are encouraged!

12.15-2.15 Free Play, during this time we carry out observations and focus activities. The door to the garden is opened once all the children have finished lunch, to allow free flow between the indoor and outdoor environments. Children are supported to get themselves ready to go outside e.g. change boots and coats. We will go outside every session regardless of weather conditions should the children wish to.

2.15-2.55 We promote the idea that the children help tidy away activities both indoors and outside. Then gather for some singing and stories.

2.55-3.00 We gather together to sing our holding hands song which signifies the end of the session.

(We do open the door for parents to collect their children at 2.45 if required due to collecting siblings from school).

We also have a parent helper rota if you can spare half an hour before the end of session to help us tidy up and join in with our group time.
